Essentially, hyaluronic acid has been found to help add moisture and hydration to the skin – which really does wonders for helping your skin maintain its youthful appearance. In addition, some experts suggest that hyaluronic acid can help increase collagen production. When we’re looking to maintain the youthful appearance in our skin, more collagen is music to the ears.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids
This type of acid is quite different than hyaluronic acid. Alpha hydroxy acids work as gentle exfoliators on the skin. When we’re eager to really fight the aging process, exfoliating the skin is a major part of that process, or it should be anyways. Exfoliating helps to eliminate dead skin cells that may be on the top layer of the skin. In addition, exfoliating has been found to help fade dark spots and even improve wrinkles – or prevent them from occurring. The key to reaping these kinds of benefits are to ensure that you’re using a gentle exfoliating ingredient on the skin which is why alpha hydroxy acids are used in anti-aging exfoliating products.
Often times when we think of antioxidants we think of eating certain foods to help our immune system. However, our skin needs antioxidants as well – for a pretty similar reason. Antioxidants are widely used in anti-aging beauty products because they’ve been found to help preserve the skin so wonderfully. Essentially, antioxidants helps to give the skin cells a nice boost to help them work to repair and replenish themselves improving the appearance of the skin. In addition, antioxidants are also amazing at helping to fight free radicals. Free radicals have been found to break down the skin and cause signs of aging to appear – antioxidants help avoid that really well.
