Traditionally, belts have been known as a fashion accessory for…
When you look in your closet, what do you feel? Does it feel like you have a closet full of clothes, but NOTHING to wear? What’s interesting is when we really think about that statement that many of us make on a daily basis is it’s not true…there are actual clothes in your closet. But the clothes that are in your closet may not be YOU, or what you actual want from your clothes. The fall season always has us taking a look at our style and wardrobe, it’s a great time to reevaluate what’s hanging in our closet. Does your closet reflect your personal style? If it doesn’t, we have a few things to consider.
Decide What You Want
Ok, so the thing about our style and closet is that it’s a lot like anything else in our lives…if we don’t know what we actually want it’s hard to achieve it. This is often where people get stuck with a closet full of clothes that don’t actually fit their personal style. Take some time to actually think about what you want your personal style to look like, you probably haven’t done much this have you? Hey, it’s ok you can start now. So when it comes to figuring out what you want your style to be, we’ve found it to be incredibly helpful to create a new board on Pinterest and start pinning things that you like – don’t think too much about them just pin whatever it is you’re drawn to. Once you’ve collected a nice selection of images take a look at what you’ve pinned and look for the consistencies. The consistencies are going to help you see what you actually want your personal style to be. From there, think of some descriptive words you want to use to describe your style…do you want your style to be creative? Edgy? Classic?
Now Go Through Your Closet
Now that you actually know what you WANT from your style, it’s time to go through your closet and determine whether or not your current closet is a match for what you want. This is a great time to actually eliminate anything that doesn’t fit in with the style that you want to make room for the new. Take your time with it and as you go through it start keeping a list of things that you need to add to cater and fit in with the style that you do want for yourself.
Shop With Intention
Ok, you’ve determined what you want, you’ve gone through your closet and made a list…now it’s time to start making that closet reflect your personal style. When you start shopping and decide to add pieces to your wardrobe that reflect your personal style make sure you’re buying with intention. Don’t just buy to buy and fill up your closet again, make sure anything you buy fits in with that style you want for yourself and fits in with the list you created.
So…does your closet reflect your personal style? Why or why not?
