We all have eyes (obviously), and it’s important that we…
Unless you’ve been completely distant from the internet and social media in the past year, you know that contouring and highlighting has become THE major makeup technique for women everywhere. It’s a makeup technique that’s literally gone viral around the internet and beauty bloggers everywhere are showing us different techniques to get a perfectly highlighted makeup look. While we love and totally appreciate the beauty bloggers for sharing their artist views and techniques, it sometimes seems a little intimidating and even confusing when trying to achieve the look yourself at home. Since we’re all about making things easier for you, we’re sharing some easy tips to highlighting your nose, jawline and cheeks.
Choosing how you want to highlight
So before you get started with actually highlighting your facial features, it’s important to figure out HOW you want to highlight them. Essentially, how much you want to highlight or emphasize these areas of the face. The great thing about makeup, especially highlighting is you’re able to make it as natural or dramatic as you want. Decide HOW dramatic you want to be with your highlighting.
Pick your products
Once you decide how dramatic or natural you want to highlight your facial features, it’s time to figure out what type of highlighting products you want to use. If you want a more natural highlighted look, using a highlighting/shimmer powder and lightly applying it to the areas is an easy way to get some highlighting in – you would do this after you’ve done all the rest of your face makeup. If you want something more dramatic applying a concealer that’s at least 1-2 shades lighter than your skin color to the areas is a great way to get a more defined highlighted look. If you REALLY want to get a dramatic look, combining the two techniques is going to give you that Kardashian style highlight. It’s really up to you!
Where to apply the products
Now that you know how dramatic you want your highlight to be, and what products you’re going to use it’s time to actually apply them! When highlighting your nose, you’re going to want to apply the highlighting product down the bridge of your nose. To highlight your jawline, you’re just going to apply the highlighting product to your jawline. And when highlighting your cheeks, it’s best to apply the highlighting product to the top of the cheekbone. When you’re looking for a very dramatic highlight and using the concealer method, apply the concealer in a triangle shape under the eyes and blend it out to over the top of the cheekbone for a nice natural blended look. Regardless of what type of product you choose, make sure that you’re blending the product REALLY well. Blending well, and not blending well can be the difference between a gorgeous highlight and looking like you misplaced some shimmer product on different areas of your face.
