Keeping Your Skin Healthy When The Weather Fluctuates

It’s no secret that many of us have been experiencing weather fluctuations throughout the past couple of months.  It may be raining one day, snowing another, and then add in some chilly temps – it’s all part of that winter weather, right?  While the weather isn’t something we’re able to have control over, you’ve probably noticed your skin acting up a bit with all the weather changes happening.  So we thought it was time we shared some of our favorite tips for keeping your skin healthy when the weather fluctuates – so you don’t have to worry about your skin going haywire just because the weather is.

Exfoliate…For Real
You’ve probably heard the importance of exfoliating, and we’ve talked about it frequently ourselves.  However, we find that although so many of us know exfoliating is an important part of our skin care routine many still aren’t making it a habit for themselves.  The thing about exfoliating is it helps to eliminate any dead skin cells – which also helps your skin to better absorb your moisturizing products.  So if you’re not already exfoliating on a weekly basis (2-3 times per week for best results) it’s time to get serious about it.  Find a hydrating exfoliating product to continue emphasizing moisture in your skin, but don’t forget to exfoliate the rest of your body with something like a dry brush, too!

Prioritize Moisture
When the weather fluctuates, our skin tends to react by becoming quite dry with all the changes, you’ve probably noticed your skin is looking and feeling a little (or a lot) drier than usual.  All of the experts in skin care constantly stress the importance of keeping your skin moisturized.  While it’s essential to give your skin a lot of moisture regardless of the weather, when the weather is fluctuating,it’s especially important to really maintain your skin’s health.  If you haven’t done so already, it’s worth looking into switching your moisturizer to something that’s a bit heavier and creamier in consistency to really get your skin that moisture it’s craving.  Be sure you’re applying moisturizer to your face in the morning and the evening – and don’t forget to moisturize the rest of your body too!  We recommend carrying a moisturizer around with you to touch up throughout the day.

Add In Treatment Products
We’re all about keeping your skin care routine doable and realistic, but we’re also all about making sure that you’re really making the most of your efforts.  Many experts suggest that adding in special serums/treatment products can help to really keep your skin healthy – especially when you’re fighting the weather.  Whatever changes you’ve noticed happening in your skin, whether you’ve had extreme dryness or otherwise looking for some quality treatment/serum based products to add to your skin care routine.  These can really help to replenish and nourish your skin to take it to a level that will keep it healthy – and we promise, it doesn’t add a lot of additional time to your skin care routine!
