Let’s face it….we want to look pulled together and flawless,…
Since it’s officially summer, you’re probably thinking it’s time to switch up your makeup routine. As the temperatures rise we tend to want to wear less makeup, because it tends to feel ‘heavy’ in the heat. If you’re feeling like your foundation is too heavy now, it may be time to consider something more lightweight. While the term lightweight foundation can mean many different things we’re going to share some things to consider when selecting a lightweight summer foundation.
If you want minimal coverage from your foundation a tinted moisturizer is a great way to go. It will add a little color to even out your complexion, and really add some great moisture to your skin. Tinted moisturizers are great because they’re super easy to use and wear. Often times the color is so fair that you barely feel the product on your face – which is often ideal for the hot summer months.
Make Sure it’s a Hydrating Formula
Because you’re likely to be outside more in the summer months you’re going to want to make sure whatever formulation of foundation you choose it’s something that has a lot of hydrating elements to it. Another reason a tinted moisturizer is a great option. But if you’re looking for something with a little more coverage than a tinted moisturizer, opt for a regular foundation that’s lighter weight, but make sure it emphasizes that it’s a hydrating formula. This will help make sure your skin stays hydrated all day long since it tends to get dryer being out in the sun more often.
Another way to go about lightening up your foundation’s weight for the summer is to actually combine two different formulas. For example, if your typical foundation is medium coverage mix it with some light coverage foundation and then apply to your face. This will help give you the coverage you like from your medium coverage foundation but ease up on the consistency of the product by mixing it with a lightweight foundation. It’s also a great way to maximize your product if your typical foundation isn’t one that emphasizes on hydration it could be that you mix it with a hydrating formula foundation. It’s worth noting that there’s nothing wrong with mixing multiple colors and/or products to achieve your foundation look. In fact, it’s often necessary to do so in order to achieve the look you’re going for.
There are so many ways to adjust your makeup routine in the summer months. However, we tend to feel the most weighed down by our foundation in the summer. It’s likely it’s because we wear foundation all over our face. Lighten it up during the warmer months and you’ll feel so much better! Also, don’t forget to apply a primer prior to applying your foundation. This will help make sure you get a longer wear from your foundation since you’re more likely to sweat it can help keep your makeup on all day long.
