We all want gorgeous, flawless skin – right? Well in order for us to have the flawless skin we desire it takes a little work on your skin care routine. Unfortunately, flawless skin doesn’t just happen we have to take care of our skin daily and adapt certain routines in order to make sure our skin is healthy and gorgeous. So to help you get started on achieving soothe and smooth skin, we’re sharing some of our favorite skincare secrets (shhh, don’t tell anyone!).
Don’t Neglect Your Makeup
First and foremost, you NEED to remove your makeup before heading to bed EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. This is a huge step to helping your skin achieve a more soothing state, removing your makeup allows your skin to breathe and feel fresh again. We know you’ve heard it time and time again, but it’s SUPER important and we know some of you ladies are still heading to bed with makeup on. Additionally, you have to get in the habit of cleaning your makeup brushes. Our skin has bacteria and when we constantly use our makeup brushes (all over our face) it spreads that bacteria and can cause breakouts, or spread breakouts if we already have a few. Plus…it’s just good for your skin to clean your brushes. If you think about it, do you want to use dirty brushes all over your face? Probably not! So get into the routine of actually cleaning those babies regularly.
Another super important step to soothing and smoothing your skin is exfoliation. Exfoliating your skin regularly (experts suggest 1-2x per week) is a great way to eliminate dead skin cells, dirt, oil and any other bacteria/junk you don’t want on your skin. Additionally, because exfoliating eliminates all these things it’s really soothing for the skin and helps to create a smoother surface.
Check Your Diet
What we eat (and drink) has a huge effect on our skin’s health. With that being said, we need to check our diet and try eliminating a lot of the junk. Eating too many greasy foods can come out in our skin, affecting the smoothness of it. Instead, try replacing the ‘junk’ food with lots of fruits, veggies and really up your water intake.
Moisturizing is SO important. Our skin needs to lock in moisturize to help with the overall appearance and health. That being said, make sure you’re moisturizing every day. Moisturizing helps to not only lock in the natural moisture in your skin but also help your skin appear smooth and plump (great for anti-aging).
Make Sure You’re Getting Enough Sleep
Just like what we eat and drink has an impact on our skin, so does our sleep pattern. It’s crucial you’re getting enough sleep for your skin’s overall health. While you sleep your body works to repair itself and so if we aren’t getting enough sleep our body isn’t able to fully repair itself in the way we want. This is why when you don’t get enough sleep you tend to look pale and/or your skin seems to look ‘dull.’
